Get to know your faction
After choosing a ruler and faction, open the city information and officer list. Check your gold, food, city conditions and available people before planning your first move. Starting positions vary by scenario; a recorded campaign is an example rather than a universal opening.
Look beyond strength
An officer’s intelligence, prestige, command and innate trait also matter. Read the officer and equipment details before assigning a role. The website catalogue lists base attributes, without equipment bonuses or temporary combat effects. Those numbers alone do not predict a battle’s outcome.
Start with a small goal
- Check the city’s gold and food.
- Open an officer’s details and read their attributes, trait and equipment.
- Review troop types and formation before marching.
- On the battlefield, inspect movement range and terrain before issuing orders.
- Review the result before planning the next turn.
You do not need to master every system at once. Begin with one city and one army, then develop your own approach.
